About Me...

Writing about myself always feels a little odd. It reminds me of something way back in elementary school that hung in your classroom or in the hallway for everyone to see. :) That being said, here you go...

The really short and sweet is that I'm a wife and mom who currently stays home doing "home maker" things. Currently I've been a "home maker" for about 6 months. In the last 13+ years I've held a few different jobs, some full time, some part time. They have varied from administrative positions to retail. If I'm honest, I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up....but I have a much better idea now than I did 13 years ago!

So beyond home making, which in my case is mainly cleaning and laundry and taking my zuchon on 3 walks a day, I'm starting this blogging project. Being a blogger/author has been stirring in my heart for a few years now. I'm also blessed to serve in my church in our marriage ministry, which depending on the time of year, is like a part time job, but so much better. Volunteering at church and at my children's schools is what fills my time currently outside of the home. Oh, and of course playing chauffeur....

Being a "stay at home mom" now that my kids are almost 13 and almost 10 is not something I had ever really envisioned for myself. My health has really led me to this place in my life currently and I will share that journey here on my blog too, in hopes to not only be therapeutic for me, but more importantly to help anyone else suffering with a chronic illness.

Being a wife and mom is wonderful and I know "blessed" has become an overused word, but I really am blessed. It's also really hard! Some days you go all day and do everything you can for everyone else just to get up and do it all over again. It can feel lonely and like you aren't appreciated....which is a topic I plan on covering in a different post. But, honestly my roles as wife and mom are God given and when I focus on that, it really helps me put things in perspective.

The longer version of who I am...that will probably be easier as you get to know me through my blog posts, but a little of my history, that has really been an integral part of who I am, is the fact that I was an "Army Brat". My dad served his country for 22 years. This meant that we moved a lot. So, when asked where I'm from, I just say, "all over". I've lived in Texas(1 year), Germany(7 years-2 different times), Colorado(5 years-2 different times), Illinois (1 year..maybe a little longer and I was born here), South Carolina(few months), Kansas(3 years), and finally Wisconsin(18 years). Whew...just typing that is crazy!

So, yea I've been all over the US and I have to say I really enjoyed living in Germany and I hope that Brent (my hubby) and I can get there someday together. There and Italy. So, if you've been to either place, comment here please and let me know what you loved about it and what we have to see! ;)

So, you know that I'm a wife and a mom with a chronic illness who has lived in a lot of different places....and I happened to land in Wisconsin.

Who I really am?

A daughter of the King.

I love Jesus.

Jesus is my Heavenly Father.

I'm a lost sinner in need of a Savior.

Jesus is my Savior.

I'm really grateful for that because I'm a mess. Really...I am. Life is messy, people are messy, and that's why we need Jesus. He takes the mess and makes it beautiful and good. So, if you are looking for a place to find out how to do life "just right", or how to be the perfect wife, mom, friend, sister, employee, etc. you won't find that here.

You will find a lot of grace, a lot of realness and a lot of truth. And with that a lot of hope, love and faith!

Thanks for spending some time with me today! Blessings on your tomorrow.
