It's Been a While...Following and Trusting Jesus
For those of you who keep up with me through social media, you know that I've made posts on my Blog page here and there throughout the last year. However, it's been over a year since my last blog post. I wish that wasn't the case. But, I think it would be safe to say that this last year has been a roller coaster for us all. Now, as I sit here with the news on with everything happening in DC today, I am heartbroken and overwhelmed with sadness.
This blog post is taking a different turn and I'm just going to go with what I feel God is laying on my heart. We as Christians should be following Jesus's example. He has called us to be humble. Not prideful. Loving, not hateful. Truthful, not liars. As followers of Christ we were given the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20), and it was to share the Gospel. Our lives are not ours if we follow Christ. Our peace doesn't come from our circumstances, freedoms, etc. It comes from Him.
Christians are to be set apart. We share the hope of Jesus Christ, because this physical life is but a vapor.(Psalm 62:9) Every single person has a spiritual life and each person's eternity is on the line.(John 3:16-21) Jesus told us that the world hated him first and when we follow Him, it will hate us too. (John 15:18)
We should pray for wisdom and discernment. We should look to Him and His Word for what to do, how to act, when to speak, and when not to speak. We should love first and always stand firm in the truth of God's Word. We cannot control what is happening in the world, but we take comfort in knowing that He is in control and He is good. It doesn't mean it will be easy, or look how we think it should, or feel safe and comfortable. We have a race to run and He will give us everything we need to run that race when we submit all authority to Him and humble ourselves and resist our flesh. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
My hope and prayer is that all of us who follow Christ would stay focused on Him in all situations. The only way to do this is to choose Him and His Word and cling to His Truth and His Promises.
