So, it's January 30th and I don't know about you, but my inbox has been inundated with emails about weight loss, starting over, setting goals, how to make this your best year ever, and the list goes on. To say that it's a little overwhelming is an understatement! How do you look at the New Year? Do you make lists of all the goals you want to accomplish? Do you have a vision board that you create to remind yourself of what you want to achieve in the next 365 days? Or, are you like me and you have all these ideas floating around in your head and somehow it's already 30 days into the New Year and you have no idea what your so called "goals" are, or what you are doing, and at best you are just trying to get through each day a little bit better than you did the day before?
If the answer to that last question is, "YES!", then I'm in good company! So, what do we do then? How do we navigate everything being thrown at us via email, social media, TV, even our friends and family? My answer? One day at a time, and sometimes one moment at a time. We have to consciously make clear and concise decisions about what is good for us, our lives, and for the situations we are currently in. NOTHING is "one size fits all". If that were the case, then this wouldn't be a topic of discussion and we would all have it together all the time!
I truly believe God sets on our hearts and minds what He knows is good for us and what we do with those ideas or thoughts, whether we obey Him, can either take us closer to His plan for our lives or can move us further away. The great thing about this, is that even when we fall back, make a bad choice, or just plain don't listen, He's still there and He is still working in our lives. The reality that when you do listen to Him there is NO GUARANTEE that it will be easy or even work out the way you thought. But, when we trust in Him to continue to guide us and we stay in Him through the process, what is meant for us will not be stopped. Sometimes we just have to hang on tight and say, "Okay God, take me where I'm supposed to go and even though this is scary, I will trust you, no matter the outcome."
If only it were that easy, right?
Recently, a friend of mine connected me with Brooke Peterson, who is a fellow Jesus lover, mom, blogger, and a woman who wants to help other women understand how to take care of themselves in a simple, effective way. This connection was what I like to call "divine". It was something that was being worked out by Him. Brooke shared her website and Facebook page with me and then shared how she was using Isagenix to help women with their health and wellness goals. Here's the thing-I used this same program about 4 years ago! So, initially I was like, "no way!", "been there, done that". My mind was made up....or so I thought.
A lot has happened in those 4 years, and the most influential changes have been related to my health. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism caused by Hashimotos in October 2016, lab positive results of Lyme Disease co-infections in May 2017, confirmation of Stage 3 Endometriosis in July 2018 and Fibromyalgia in September 2018. I've learned so much more than I ever wanted to know about everything listed and am still learning. After my last diagnosis I just prayed for God to help me figure something out. I needed something to help me navigate this nightmare I felt trapped in.
So yes, when Brooke told me it was Isagenix she wanted to share with me, initially I was ready to say, "thank you, but no thank you". For some reason I couldn't stop thinking about it though! So, I decided to pray about it, I talked to my husband, did some research, and after a few days decided it was worth trying again. I'm excited to share my journey in the next few weeks with all of you. I'm baby stepping this process and so far, it's going well! I really do think this connection with Brooke and this Isagenix program, is right for me right now and He's working it all out. If you'd like more information on what exactly this program is, contact me and/or visit my website:
I wanted to share this with you to tell you to that maybe that thing you did once, that didn't quite work out, whatever it is, deserves a second chance. Whether it is health related or not, I think that's an important lesson in life. Some things or opportunities come back around to us and we get to decide if it's worth the second chance. Have you been given an opportunity to give something a second chance in this New Year? Whatever God is speaking to you right now may not be health related like my situation, but regardless, the same process applies: Trusting Him and moving forward with confidence.
You and I are loved and held by the one and only Creator, and every day we are given, is an opportunity to do His Kingdom work. Keep pressing forward friends and trusting Him along the way.
